Please let me know the steps for writing a good literature essay. I have been struggling with my paper for more than one week. I do not really know what to do. I can write in good English, but the thing is that I do now know the basics of it. Is there any difference between writing a general essay and a literature essay. Also, my professor has not yet mentioned about the nature of sources. Can I use internet sources? I am not talking about Wikipedia or Ask.com. There are many other articles I have found in the internet which are related to my topic. Please help me.

If you are writing a literature essay, be sure that you have read the text in full. You cannot write any literature essay without reading the primary text thoroughly. Also, try to gather some biographical details of the author. However, do not write more about the author. Just mention the author and write about the exact topic you are given. Since it is a literature paper, you have the freedom to write in a figurative way as well. Use good expression with polished language. This will capture the attention of the professor. Do not forget to proofread the paper.
I cannot agree with John. One cannot write a good essay merely by understanding the topic. There needs to be out and out effort from the part of the writer to come out with a good essay. He should read a lot on the topic and understand the basics of essay writing. Also, he must possess a good language.
A good literature essay can be written only if the writer has read many literary creations, not the one he or she is assigned with. If so, a convincing paper can be created. Also, writing a literature essay is comparatively easy. It does not have to be analytical like a science essay. You can write your opinion. At the same time, do not make any claims until you can prove it with adequate description. Also, try to include some relevant quotes from the primary text. This will impress your professors.
